When you apply for a bank account, checks need to be done to verify your identity
If we can’t verify your identity and address details during the application, we’ll request documents from you to open your account.
In these cases, we’ll send you a personalised email detailing what document(s) you need to provide, and how to upload them. If you haven’t seen this email, please check your spam folder or contact us.
All documents need to be:
clearly readable/ not blurred or with a glare
valid and current (not expired)
dated in the last 3 months if providing a letter
full document (both sides if applicable)
current address shown

If you’re applying as a partnership or limited liability partnership, you’ll need to send in the relevant documents for each partner involved, not just one.
For charities
If you’re applying as a charity, you’ll need to email [email protected]:
- a letter of authority on official letterhead, listing all trustees to the charity. It must be signed by a trustee
- proof of identity documents for each trustee to the charity.

If you've been asked to provide a document to verify your trading address for your business, you can choose from the list below:
- Copy of lease/tenancy agreement
- Utility bill dated within the last three months
- Signed letter from accountant
Your trading address is where your business operates and may be different from your business registered address.
For Sole Trader, Limited Company and personal account applications:
Upload your documents to the secure online portal provided in the application email sent to you when you applied.
You’ll need your surname and application reference number, also provided in this email.
For charities and any other business applications:
Email your documents to [email protected]. Please include your application reference number.
If you don’t provide documents to open your account within 60 days of applying, your application will be cancelled.
